Authorities this week recognized the bicyclist killed final week when he was struck by a motorcyclist who was fleeing from a California State Parks officer in Carlsbad.

Solana Seaside resident Brad Allen Catcott, 68, was driving his bicycle Aug. 15 alongside Carlsbad Boulevard, near Carlsbad State Seaside, when the fleeing motorcycle rider struck and fatally injured him, in accordance with police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Workplace.
Catcott was driving from the bicycle lane to a turning lane when he was struck, in accordance with the Medical Examiner’s Workplace. He died on the scene from a number of blunt drive accidents.
A spokesperson for the Medical Examiner’s Workplace recognized Catcott on Tuesday, Aug. 23, the identical day Carlsbad declared a state of emergency in reference to a pointy enhance in crashes involving bicycles and e-bikes over the previous two years. Paramedics took the rider and his passenger to a hospital for therapy of great accidents, Carlsbad police stated final week. Authorities haven’t recognized the motorcyclist.
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, a Carlsbad police spokesperson referred questions concerning the crash and investigation to State Parks officers.
A State Parks spokesperson offered a press release Thursday, Aug. 25, that stated there “isn’t any new info to share with the general public” concerning the crash that killed Catcott or potential prices towards the motorbike rider.
“The investigation into the collision is ongoing,” the assertion stated. “The Carlsbad Police, California State Parks and San Diego County District Lawyer’s Workplace are working collectively on the investigation.”
